Full Description
March 2008.
A World War Two pillbox is visible on aerial photographs (S1). A pillbox with a hexagonal plan, probably a type 22, was located on the west bank of the River Great Ouse at Stowbridge at TF 6024 0694. It was positioned to protect the river crossing and was supported by a second pillbox to the north (NHER 51403), anti tank blocks (NHER 32375, 51404), a spigot mortar emplacement (NHER 35921) and a possible weapons pit (NHER 35922). This pillbox has been demolished.
