Full Description
June 2010. Norfolk NMP.
The site described below was previously recorded as part of NHER 12776.
A probable round barrow of Bronze Age (or possibly Late Neolithic) date is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs (S1)-(S4), centred at TG 2391 0582. Both a ring ditch and traces of an internal mound are visible, with evidence of a possible pit (perhaps containing a burial) towards its eastern side. Together with two further ring ditches to its west, the site forms part of a linear barrow cemetery (NHER 52302), itself part of the complex funerary/ceremonial landscape surrounding Arminghall Henge (NHER 6100) 150m to the north. The ring ditch is approximately circular in plan and measures up to 24m in diameter.
S. Tremlett (NMP), 29 June 2010.
