Map

Pre 1992. Stray Find.
At some point prior to 1992 a number of finds are recorded as having been found in the vicinity of 1 St Andrews Hill. These artefacts included Late Saxon and early medieval pottery, and post-medieval clay pipe bowls and stems. Found by [1].

The circumstances in which this material was recovered are not recorded, although it was presumably some form of building work. The only details recorded on the original record card (S1) are a note stating “Largest part of site part of 1A and small end piece part of 53 London Street”. It is therefore somewhat unclear where this work took place, given that 1A St Andrews Hill and 53 London Street are on opposite sides of 1 St Andrews Hill.

1/1A St Andrews Hill is a Grade II Listed Building now recorded under NHER 58628.

P. Watkins (HES), 12 February 2013.
