Summary

Excavations at this location in 1986 revealed medieval pits, pottery sherds and wall footings. A number of post medieval finds were also recovered including clay pipe stems, lead glazed earthenware and Westerwald sherds.

Start 18 March 1988. Hole in floor of basement and underpinning front wall.
No.6, Sherds found 12 May 1988. Also post medieval and clay pipe stems.
No.7, medieval and clay pipes.
No.9, lead glazed earthenware and black glaze and clay pipe stems.
Under stable floor - 1820. Lead glazed earthenware and Westerwald.

The finds recovered during this work have been deposited with the Norwich Castle Museum (NWHCM : 1998.13).

Small irregular hole dug by contractors. 0.6 x 0.7 x 0.53m. 1.9m from back wall, 2.3m from side wall adjacent to shallow wall. Dry soil visible - very fine sand loam, occasional shell flecks, sparse bone.
