Summary

Brick wall and associated gate piers to the north of 18 Market Place (NHER 34716), which date to the mid 18th century but were rebuilt in late 20th century. The two square-sectioned piers carry Coade stone finials. Rebuilt in the late 20th century, although 18th-century brickwork survives to the rear of the north pier. These structures were Listed Grade II in 1973, along with a pair of gate piers of similar age at the rear entrance to the school on Whitsands Road (NHER 68115).

Listing Description excerpt:
"Gate piers and wall. c.1740. Brick, rebuilt late 20th century in English bond. Two square-section piers carrying Coade stone finials: finials in form of bulbous urns with raised vine-trail decoration. To rear of north pier remains 18th brickwork."
