Summary

This former Catholic chapel was converted into a school in 1827 by J. T. Patience but underwent renovation in the 20th century. It is made from brick with a hipped slate roof. It has three bays with a central projecting door with Ionic hexastyle portico, the entablature of which continues across outer bays as a stringcourse with pilasters above. The building has simple cast-iron railing and gates. Part of a medieval flint well was found in the southwest corner of a shaft hole dug in the basement of the chapel at the southern end.

"Chapel converted into school, empty at the time of re-survey. 1827 by J.T. Patience with C20 renovations. White brick, red brick on sides. Hipped slate roof. Two storeys. Three bays with central bay projecting. Central door with Ionic hexastyle portico, the entablature of which continues across outer bays as a stringcourse with pilasters above...Pediment over central bay. Simple cast-iron railing and gates."

1989.
Approximately a quarter of a flint well in southwest corner of shaft hole. Approximate diameter of 1.2m. Full depth not revealed. Also a ditch seen in east section of the shaft. Discovered by contractors whilst digging lift shaft in basement of chapel at the south end (Willow Lane end).
