Full Description
1952. In digging drainage trenches in the basement of Norwich Union offices.
Two human skeletons found about 60cm to 75cm (2 feet to 2 feet 6 inches) below level of the basement floor, lying east to west with the head west.
R.R. Clarke (NCM) said human skeletal remains were found previously.
No further details. Remains discarded.
1971.
Site of St Cuthbert's Church (NHER 398). No evidence of church was found.
Few delft and medieval sherds from test hole.
1972.
The site was dug into natural gravel in the 19th century.
Some pits, etc. survived where they had been dug deep enough.
Late Saxon pottery from three pits and 19th century makeup.
1973.
Still no evidence of church found. Unstratified Late Saxon sherds (including spouted pitcher).

Church c.1492 united to St. Mary the Less. 1530 AD demolished.
